Dead Bugs

This is another excellent core strength and trunk stabilizing exercise. Not only do Dead Bugs improve core conditioning, they also help build stability in the hips and trunk. They build the coordination necessary for any cross crawling activity because they essentially mimics the hand and leg movement, only performed on your back rather than your hands and feet.

  1. Lie on your back with your arms extended in front of your shoulders.
  2. Bend your hips and knees to a 90-degree angle.
  3. Tighten your abs and press your lower back into the floor.
  4. Take a deep breath in.
  5. As you exhale, slowly extend your left leg toward the floor and bring your right arm overhead. Keep your abs tight and don't let your lower back arch.
  6. Slowly return your arm and leg to the starting position.
  7. Repeat with your opposite arm and leg. Continue alternating.
